Juxtaposition - old identities vs new ones

Juxtaposition - old identities vs new ones

Composure. Layering life with moments that capture its essence in colours, movement, style. Grace. New identities showing glimpses of old identities. A multitude of emotions. Showing up as your true self with intention. Juxtaposition.

Showing up as your best self comes with expectations of success and an elevated lifestyle. And it sort of becomes a chore. Or is it just the way you choose to view it? The perspective. The mindset.

We give power to things, thoughts, actions. We create the meaning to most things in our life. And yet, there's so many things you want to do. How do you make them feel exciting? Well, start by thinking about what drains you, what makes them a chore. And the answer is probably discomfort: it's more comfortable to sit and do nothing (your old identity), rather than to start doing something different (your new identity). Some things keep you busy and time passes by. But do those things inspire you? Make you feel alive? Help you show up as your best self? The truth is you think you have no choice, that you're stuck in this version of yourself because of circumstance, but in reality, you're the one who made the choice to stay there. And I'm not saying it's an easy choice, it's terrifying.

So, how do you overcome it?

The best answer I could find is taking action - small steps every day. And there will be days when you're going backwards, questioning yourself, feeling like you're in the unknown. And the thing is you have to get comfortable with the unknown. Juxtaposition, right?

Today's discomfort is tomorrow's growth.

A growth that benefits the future version of yourself. And it starts with changing your beliefs.

You don't always need to know where you're going, as long as you're constantly taking steps forward.
